Get on foot or bike to enjoy Walton on Thames this autumn

We seem to be enjoying an Indian Summer but as autumn approaches there a chances to take in the seasonal colours around Walton on Thames and surrounding areas on foot or on a bike.

 

Join Elmbridge Borough Council's experienced and knowledgeable walk and cycle ride leaders to breath in the fresh air and make the most of the last rays of sunshine during the mild autumnal days.

 

The Healthy Walks and Cycle Rides offer walks most days of the year and cycle rides up to three times a month. Here is just a selection of the events coming up in October:

 

Sunday October 2 - Molesey Heath. Meet at the heath gates on Approach Road at 10.30 for a slow 30 minute walk followed by a moderate paced 45 minute walk.

 

Tuesday October 4 and every Tuesday - A one-hour slow walk from Molesey Centre for the Community leaving at 10.30. Many participants on this popular and sociable walk stop for coffee or lunch at the Community Centre afterwards.

 

Wednesday October 5 - Nordic walk (poles not essential). Be prepared for a work out! Meet at Garsons Farm, Esher at 10.30 for a 90 minute moderate walk.

 

New! Thursday October 6 - A one-hour slow walk from Claygate Centre for the Community leaving at 10.30. This walk will take place on every first Thursday of each month.

 

Also on Thursday October 6 - A dog-friendly walk from Xcel Leisure Centre, Walton on Thames, leaving at 10.30 and lasting 75 minutes along the river. Moderate pace.

 

Monday October 10 - A two-hour cycle ride from Sadlers Ride car park, East Molesey, leaving at 10.30. Pace to suit all abilities. Stop for coffee en route.

 

Cllr Jan Fuller, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Cultural Services, said: "Healthy Walks offer residents the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and make new friends.

 

"With walks of all sorts, we aim to provide something to please amateur amblers through to enthusiasts. So why don't you join our sociable and active groups and get out and about in Elmbridge this autumn."
