A debate will be held next week on the proposed on street parking charges which have been met with condemnation in Walton on Thames.
-
If County Hall gets its way Walton on Thames will be one of the first areas in Surrey to pay for on street parking
Businesses and communities from across Surrey organised an online petition that attached more than 20,000 signatures. At this point, Surrey County Council has to debate it.
The meeting to the debate the petition against the introduction of on street charges will be held in the Council Chamber at County Hall in Kingston on Tuesday (May 10), starting at 10.30am.
Seating for the public will be available in a gallery overlooking the chamber and a giant screen in the nearby Grand Hall will show the action live.
The meeting will be webcast live to allow people to watch on a computer. A recorded version will be available to view within 24 hours. Walton on Thames People will be reporting back on what gets said and what will happen next.
Comments
This is yet another Elmbridge town to be targeted with on street parking charges and nobody wants it - neither the retailers nor the residents. We've had petitions in Esher too and hopefully the parking meters won't happen there or in Walton.
