Elmbridge Housing Trust (EHT) which provides social housing in Walton on Thames will be changing some of the charges it makes in the coming year.

The trust looked at the additional services it provides to residents including grounds maintenance and cleaning and the review has highlighted some overcharging, some undercharging and some instances where charges have not previously been levied.

The Board and Management of EHT has apologised to the affected residents for any difficulties the issues may cause.

EHT has issued all residents affected, with a letter detailing the charges and the steps being taken to ensure that all overpayments are fully reimbursed. EHT will not be seeking any repayment for previous underpayments.

From April, EHT will implement a revised service charge, which will more accurately reflect the exact cost involved to provide communal services. This includes some areas where a service charge has not been previously been applied.

Jane Bolton, Managing Director of EHT said: “We understand that this matter will be of concern for some of our residents, so we are planning on having meetings at the schemes affected by the service charge changes, so we can explain things a bit more clearly and our residents can ask us any questions relating to this matter.”
