Houses prices in Surrey remain really high but you can get your own place, stay in the area and still afford to live!

Inside a very nice part buy/part rent home in Walton on Thames
Through part buy/part rent, some of the money you spend on accommodation each month goes towards buying a percentage of the place you live in. The rest is paid in rent and as the properties are with housing associations these are always reasonable.
A property under the scheme has recently become available in Walton Thames.
For a one bedroom flat, it has really well sized rooms – the kitchen in particular. It is located just a ten minute walk from the town’s station which has fast trains into Waterloo that take just over 20 minutes. Buses in the area go to Heathrow, Kingston and Staines while the property also has a designated parking space.
Built just three years ago, the property benefits from a high energy rating – so low bills – and is an excellent first step on the housing ladder. To make the move, the first thing any prospective buyer would need to do is register with Elmbridge Borough Council. From there, it could be as soon as eight weeks before a home like this could be yours!
To give you some idea of the cost, this Walton property requires someone to buy a minimum of 30 per cent, so that’s £49,500 that you would have to get a mortgage for – something the housing associations are really good at helping with. From there the rent is just £190 a month plus a service charge of £68 which while paying for the upkeep of the communal areas that include a garden, also covers buildings insurance.
To make arrangements to view this property call Paragon Community Housing Group on 01932 235700.

I think this is a fantastic way for first time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder. It's just so hard for people to buy these days and this is the perfect solution - espeically for single people as the sort of prices you talk about here are possibly more affordable for someone looking to buy on their own. A great way to get your own space in these tough economic times.
