Pupils from a Walton on Thames school will converge on County Hall to debate sustainability and climate change issues next week before discussing points raised with councillors.

Rydens students will be at Surrey County Council’s headquarters on Monday (October 11).

Surrey County Council Leader Dr Andrew Povey said: "I am committed to increasing openness and transparency and these events are ideal ways of doing this while getting more people involved in the workings of the council.

"It is vital we do all we can to encourage residents to share their views because it is clear in the current economic climate that all public services are being required to make savings and we won’t be able to continue doing everything in the same way."

Along with Rydens, other schools attending are Broadwater, Godalming; Christ's College, Guildford; Collingwood College, Camberley; and Royal Alexandra and Albert, Reigate.
